Varanasis New Logistics Park to Boost Trade and Employment

Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, is set to become a major logistics hub with the development of a state-of-the-art Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP).

The project aims to integrate road, rail, air, and waterways to enhance trade efficiency and create thousands of jobs in the region. The MMLP will be located on a 150-acre site strategically connected to National Highway 7 (NH7) via a 650-meter access road. It is situated just 1.5 kilometers from the NH7-NH2 junction, facilitating seamless road connectivity. Additionally, the park will integrate with the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor through a 5.1 km railway line from Jeonathpur Station, enhancing rail connectivity. The proximity to National Waterway-1 and Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport, located 30 kilometers away, ensures robust inland water and air transport links.

This integrated infrastructure is expected to reduce logistics costs, which currently account for approximately 20% of the cost of goods in India. By streamlining transportation across multiple modes, the MMLP aims to make trade more efficient and affordable, benefiting industries such as agriculture, textiles, handicrafts, and pharmaceuticals. The project is anticipated to generate significant employment opportunities, both directly and indirectly. The development of the MMLP aligns with the government’s vision to create sustainable and equitable cities by promoting infrastructure projects that drive economic growth and job creation.

The MMLP in Varanasi is poised to transform the region into a key logistics gateway in eastern India, enhancing trade, creating jobs, and contributing to the overall economic development of the area. By integrating various modes of transportation, the park will play a pivotal role in strengthening the national supply chain and fostering regional economic growth.
