A state-of-the-art maintenance depot for the Vande Bharat Express is under construction at Bhagat Ki Kothi in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
This facility, slated for completion by July 2025, marks the first of its kind in the country, underscoring India’s commitment to enhancing high-speed rail services. The depot, covering an area of approximately 600 metres, will be equipped to simultaneously service three Vande Bharat trains. It will feature advanced amenities, including automatic coach washing systems, wheel lathes, and dedicated testing laboratories for equipment calibration.
Additionally, the facility will house a comprehensive training centre to equip personnel with the necessary skills for maintaining these advanced trains. The establishment of this depot is part of a broader initiative by Indian Railways to bolster the maintenance capabilities for the Vande Bharat fleet. With similar depots planned in other regions, the Jodhpur facility is poised to become a central hub for the upkeep of these high-speed trains, ensuring their optimal performance and safety.
