The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has initiated a transformative urbanisation blueprint for Alibaug and sections of Pen, Panvel, and Khalapur, now officially integrated into the vast Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). This ambitious plan seeks to convert these predominantly rural areas into vibrant urban extensions, complete with designated industrial zones, residential complexes, and enhanced tourism infrastructure.
