Maharashtra Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro)

This accolade, marking the zenith of recognition within the diverse spectrum of IGBC awards, was officially conferred upon the Pune Metro on February 19, 2024. The recognition extends specifically to seven elevated stations along the Pune Metro rail project: PCMC, Sant Tukaram Nagar, Bhosari, Kasarwadi, Phugewadi, Dapodi, and Bopodi. These stations, exemplars of sustainable infrastructure, have earned the highest accolade, underscoring their commitment to environmental consciousness and resource efficiency. Established in 2001, the IGBC, an affiliate of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), stands as India’s foremost authority on green building certifications, with its headquarters situated in Hyderabad. Moreover, IGBC holds the distinction of being one of the five nations represented on the board of the World Green Building Council, actively engaging in global dialogues on environmental imperatives at forums such as COP and similar international platforms.

Buildings attaining the esteemed platinum certification undergo rigorous assessment and scrutiny by IGBC, ensuring compliance with stringent environmental norms and benchmarks. The certification not only validates the eco-friendliness of the infrastructure but also underscores the commitment towards sustainable development. The Pune Metro’s attainment of the platinum rating not only highlights its dedication to eco-friendly transportation solutions but also sets a precedent for future infrastructure projects to prioritise environmental sustainability. This recognition not only signifies a significant milestone for the Pune Metro but also sets a benchmark for excellence in green infrastructure initiatives across the nation.
