NHAI Implements Safety Measures on Dwarka Expressway for Commuters

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has rolled out a comprehensive safety initiative on the recently inaugurated Dwarka Expressway, aimed at enhancing the commuting experience and safeguarding travelers.

In a strategic move to ensure seamless navigation along the corridor, NHAI has stationed marshals to offer guidance and assistance at critical junctions and access points. Additionally, the deployment of enhanced road signages serves to augment the clarity of directions for commuters, fostering a safer and more efficient travel environment. Emphasising the paramount importance of responsible driving practices, NHAI has taken proactive measures to curb traffic violations and uphold commuter safety.

“As the Dwarka Expressway has been developed as a high-speed corridor, the movement of high-speed vehicles may pose risk to the safety. Therefore, vehicles such as two/three wheelers and non-motorised vehicles have been prohibited from using the corridor. Such vehicles can use the service lane provided on either side of the expressway. Leveraging technology, advanced CCTV Cameras have also been deployed on the corridor to check violations and enhance road safety,” said the NHAI. Through the implementation of a robust Incident Management System, expressway patrol vehicles and ambulances stand ready to swiftly respond to any unforeseen incidents, further bolstering the emergency response framework. Commuters are also urged to leverage the toll-free National Highway Helpline Number 1033 in case of emergencies, ensuring immediate assistance in times of need.

The recently inaugurated 19-kilometre Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway marks a significant milestone in the region’s infrastructure landscape. Designed as an eight-lane access-controlled Urban Expressway, the corridor seamlessly links the Delhi-Haryana border to the Kherki Daula cloverleaf interchange, setting precedence as India’s pioneering Elevated Road constructed on a Single Pier. Considering the expressway’s designation as a high-speed corridor, NHAI has imposed restrictions on certain vehicle categories, including two/three-wheelers and non-motorised vehicles, to mitigate potential safety risks. This proactive measure underscores NHAI’s unwavering commitment to prioritising commuter safety and ensuring adherence to established traffic regulations.

As India’s transportation infrastructure continues to evolve, initiatives such as the enhanced safety measures on the Dwarka Expressway underscore NHAI’s proactive approach towards fostering a secure and efficient commuting ecosystem. With a steadfast focus on innovation and safety, NHAI endeavours to elevate the standards of transportation infrastructure across the nation, catering to the evolving needs of commuters and facilitating seamless connectivity.
