Indian Railways has launched special unreserved trains connecting Chhapra and Anand Vihar Terminal to ease passenger congestion during the summer peak. These budget-friendly services, running on select July dates, aim to provide relief for thousands of general-class travellers during the high-demand holiday period. With multiple halts at key junctions like Kanpur and Gorakhpur, the service enhances accessibility and convenience for interstate travel between the capitals of Bihar and Delhi.

Responding to the seasonal surge in demand, authorities have rolled out two unreserved Summer Special trains to bridge Bihar’s Chhapra and Delhi’s Anand Vihar Terminal. These services, operating on July 5 and 12 from Chhapra, and July 6 and 13 from Delhi, aim to cater to general-class travellers who typically face overcrowding during peak travel periods. The outbound train (05317) departs from Chhapra at 7:45 pm, arriving at Anand Vihar Terminal at 12:30 pm the next day. The return service (05318) starts at 3:00 pm and concludes in Chhapra by 10:00 am the following morning. These trains stop at over 15 significant junctions including Gorakhpur, Gonda, Kanpur Central, Moradabad, and Bareilly, providing critical intercity access across Uttar Pradesh. Halt times range between two and ten minutes, ensuring swift yet inclusive coverage. Designed exclusively with general coaches, these trains offer a low-cost alternative for budget travellers seeking comfort and timely mobility.

Authorities highlight the utility of general-class special trains in improving rail capacity without straining premium services. The decision to run these summer-only, unreserved trains comes amid heightened intercity migration due to school vacations and seasonal labour movement. Operational logistics have been streamlined to ensure that stations like Aishbagh, Siwan, and Ghaziabad serve as vital interchanges along the route.
