Uttar Pradesh Commences Work on 435 MWp Solar Power Project by Hindustan Power

Uttar Pradesh has taken a major step toward clean energy adoption with the commencement of a 435 megawatt peak solar power project in Lalitpur by Hindustan Power, a leading Indian power generation company. The announcement was made during the Clean Energy Summit 2025 held at Hotel Hyatt in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry Northern Region in association with the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency, the summit focused on building a one trillion dollar economy through renewable energy.

The project, awarded through a competitive bidding process by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited in April 2025, will supply clean electricity to the state for the next twenty five years. It aligns with the state government’s target of achieving twenty two thousand megawatts of renewable energy capacity by the financial year 2026 to 2027. In addition to addressing power needs, the project is expected to create jobs and stimulate long term economic development in the region.

Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, confirmed that the project office in Lalitpur is now operational and that the company is ready to begin execution in close coordination with local stakeholders. He emphasised Hindustan Power’s commitment to delivering reliable and sustainable energy solutions that support both development and environmental goals.

This initiative is a part of Hindustan Power’s broader plan to expand its renewable portfolio to five gigawatts. The company recently won a one hundred megawatt solar project with a two hundred megawatt hour battery energy storage system from SJVN Limited. Additionally, it has received a Letter of Intent from the Bihar State Power Generation Company to develop a one hundred twenty megawatt hour battery energy storage system across three substations in Bihar under a Build Own Operate Transfer model. These developments position the company as a key player in India’s transition to green energy.
