Amritsar Jamnagar Expressway Toll Suspended On 28km Stretch For Vital Repair Work

Amritsar Jamnagar Expressway users will see temporary relief from tolls on a significant 28.71-kilometre stretch, as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced its suspension for essential repair work. This measure, effective from 8:00 AM on July 15, applies to Package-4 of the Sanchore-Santalpur section (NH-754K), a crucial infrastructure link within the ambitious Bharatmala Pariyojana. The decision prioritizes commuter safety and convenience during the rectification process.

This expressway forms a vital 125-kilometre corridor connecting Sanchore in Rajasthan to Santalpur in Gujarat’s Patan district, significantly enhancing inter-state connectivity across India’s northern and eastern regions. Beyond regional benefits, the highway plays a strategic role in improving access to major ports such as Jamnagar, Kandla, and Mundra. This improved access is critical for strengthening India’s international trade logistics and substantially reducing travel time for freight movement across the country, contributing to economic efficiency.

The temporary suspension aligns with broader government efforts to maintain robust road networks, particularly during the monsoon season. Recently, the Gujarat Chief Minister issued directives for the immediate and priority repair of all highways, rural, and urban roads damaged by heavy rainfall. The emphasis was on avoiding delays in repair work, even during periods of minimal rain or on holidays, and holding contractors accountable for damages occurring within the Defect Liability Period, underscoring a commitment to road quality and safety.

This temporary toll suspension underscores the commitment to maintaining vital infrastructure for public benefit. It highlights ongoing efforts by authorities to ensure road networks remain safe and efficient, crucial for boosting trade, enhancing regional connectivity, and supporting India’s ambitious infrastructure development goals despite environmental challenges.
