Maharashtra To Launch Air Ambulance Services For Enhanced Road Safety

Maharashtra is set to implement a comprehensive plan aimed at significantly enhancing road safety across the state, including the launch of air ambulance services. This initiative seeks to provide immediate medical assistance to accident victims on highways, alongside the deployment of specialized vehicles equipped with essential medical equipment. The comprehensive plan, which will draw funding from the state’s road safety fund, underscores the government’s commitment to prioritizing the well-being and safety of its citizens on Maharashtra’s extensive road network.

To further improve road safety, authorities are actively reviewing issues related to illegal app-based transport services, vowing to take strict action against those operating without proper licenses. An independent agency is slated for appointment to collect accurate and detailed information on accident-prone areas. This data-driven approach will enable the implementation of targeted measures to reduce traffic incidents effectively across the state, creating a safer environment for all commuters and pedestrians.

In related developments concerning public transport, the state transport minister has firmly assured that the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), a vital state-run undertaking with approximately 83,000 employees, will not be privatized. Efforts are also being directed towards enhancing employee welfare. This includes ensuring cleaner driver-conductor rest houses and washroom facilities, with a private sanitation company soon to be appointed for these services. Furthermore, arrangements will be made for washing and ironing uniforms, and even providing personal grooming services for employees, aiming to foster a positive psychological environment and boost productivity.

These multi-faceted initiatives underscore Maharashtra’s commitment to prioritizing citizen safety and welfare within its transport sector. By leveraging modern solutions and ensuring supportive working conditions for employees, the state aims to create a safer, more efficient, and robust public transportation system for all its residents.
