Navi Mumbai Earns Top Honour In Swachh Survekshan Citizen Feedback Category

Navi Mumbai has achieved significant recognition in the Swachh Survekshan 2024, securing the prestigious title of Best City in the Citizen Feedback category. This distinction, alongside its inclusion in the newly introduced ‘Super Swachh League’, underscores the exceptional public support and satisfaction regarding the city’s cleanliness, sanitation services, and civic engagement initiatives. The achievement highlights strong community involvement and trust in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s NMMC efforts.

Citizen feedback forms a crucial component of the national cleanliness ranking, evaluating cities based on public perception, awareness of sanitation initiatives, and residents’ direct experiences with municipal services. Navi Mumbai secured the highest score in this critical category, reflecting a remarkable level of community participation and confidence in the local administration. The Municipal Commissioner credited this success to the active involvement of both citizens and dedicated frontline sanitation workers.

The Commissioner emphasized that this recognition transcends a mere governmental milestone, representing a collective triumph for the people of Navi Mumbai. Their consistent support and enthusiastic participation in various cleanliness campaigns were pivotal to this achievement. Over the past year, NMMC intensified its focus on public outreach through extensive awareness drives, leveraging digital platforms, fostering local partnerships, and launching community initiatives.

A notable program, ‘Parisar Sakhi,’ actively engaged women waste pickers in door to door collection efforts. Furthermore, the civic body actively encouraged on site composting and promoted zero waste models within residential societies, thereby deepening resident involvement in sustainable waste management practices. This comprehensive approach, rooted in citizen collaboration, has evidently propelled Navi Mumbai to the forefront of urban cleanliness.
