In Odisha MCL Makes History Hits 200 MT Coal Production Milestone

In a ground-breaking achievement, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), operating in Odisha, has etched its name in history as the first company ever to attain a staggering 200 million tonnes (MT) of coal production in a single financial year.

MCL, engaged in mining operations across Angul, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh districts of Odisha, reached this monumental milestone on Saturday night, underscoring its unparalleled prowess in the coal mining sector. This remarkable feat follows MCL’s previous milestones of surpassing the 100 MT mark in the financial year 2009-10 and the 150 MT mark in the financial year 2021-22, where the company recorded a coal production of over 168 MT. The achievement not only signifies MCL’s exceptional operational efficiency and strategic prowess but also underscores its pivotal role in ensuring energy security and fuelling the nation’s industrial growth.
