Ircon International Limited, a leading Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Railways, has secured a significant contract valued at ₹642.44 crore and €2.78 million from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for the Mumbai Metro Line-6 project. This pivotal agreement for comprehensive power and traction system development underscores a critical advancement in the city’s urban transportation infrastructure, promising enhanced connectivity and a more sustainable transit future.
The contract, awarded under Package-2, designates Ircon’s responsibilities to include the design, supply, installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of crucial power supply systems, traction systems, and electrical and mechanical (E&M) works. Furthermore, the scope extends to the provision of lifts and escalators, ensuring comprehensive functionality for the metro corridor that connects Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli (Eastern Express Highway). The project is slated for completion within 104 weeks for the main infrastructure, followed by a two-year defect liability period and five years of maintenance, ensuring long-term operational reliability.
