RVNL and AAI Collaborate for Kolkata Subway Construction

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has forged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to undertake the construction of a vital subway/underpass project in Kolkata.

The initiative aims to establish seamless connectivity between the operational area and the Airport Authority of India residential colony in Kolkata. The envisioned project holds significant importance for enhancing transportation infrastructure and facilitating efficient movement within Kolkata’s urban landscape. With an estimated project cost pegged at Rs 229.43 crore, the collaboration between RVNL and AAI underscores a concerted effort towards modernising and optimising connectivity solutions.

RVNL, renowned for its expertise in executing diverse railway projects encompassing new lines, doubling, gauge conversion, electrification, metro initiatives, workshops, major bridges, and institution buildings, brings a wealth of experience and capability to the partnership. This strategic alliance reflects the commitment of both entities towards fostering infrastructural development and addressing the evolving needs of the region’s transportation ecosystem. The subway/underpass construction initiative is poised to alleviate congestion, enhance accessibility, and streamline traffic flow in key areas of Kolkata, thereby contributing to the overall socio-economic growth trajectory of the region. As stakeholders endeavour to realise the project’s objectives, meticulous planning, seamless execution, and adherence to quality standards are expected to define the journey towards successful project completion.
