Despite lakhs of party supporters congregating, an impressive deployment of 800 KMC workers, including a dedicated contingent of 100 in Esplanade, executed a war-footing clean-up operation. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee concluded her address at 2:30 PM, and by 3:15 PM, the southbound flank of Central Avenue at the Esplanade crossing was already opened to traffic. This phased restoration, prioritising crowd dispersal and pedestrian safety, minimised civic disruption, a common challenge in major urban centres hosting large-scale events.
A senior official from the KMC’s solid waste management department confirmed that teams were strategically pre-positioned across the city, activating immediately as the rally concluded. Special emphasis was placed on clearing the vicinity of the main stage and the Maidan area, which bore the brunt of the gathering. The rapid removal of temporary structures, such as guard rails, and their prompt loading onto lorries further expedited the re-opening of roads. By 4:30 PM, all roads that had been closed during the programme were fully operational, a remarkable feat given the scale of the assembly.
The clean-up extended beyond just the main rally site. Conservancy workers diligently tackled refuse left behind by participants who had cooked meals on pavements leading to Esplanade. Moreover, multiple conservancy teams were deployed to various accommodation points, including Geetanjali Stadium and Uttirno, where outstation party workers had stayed overnight.
