Pune PMPML Launches E Bus Service From Wagholi To Hinjawadi Phase 3

Pune’s public transport network has taken a significant stride towards sustainable urban mobility with the launch of a new electric bus service connecting Wagholi to Hinjawadi Maan Phase 3. Operated by the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML), this new Route No. 328 offers commuters a fast, comfortable, and eco-friendly travel option. The initiative underscores Pune’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and fostering a more accessible and equitable public transport system for its rapidly growing population.

The inauguration ceremony, held at 10:00 AM, marked the formal commencement of services on this vital new corridor. The route will be serviced by four smart, air-conditioned electric buses, operating at convenient one-hour intervals throughout the day. The deployment of electric buses is a strategic move, directly contributing to the city’s environmental goals by eliminating tailpipe emissions and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. This aligns seamlessly with the broader vision of creating zero net carbon and greener urban environments, enhancing air quality for all residents.

The new Route 328 is meticulously designed to significantly improve daily connectivity between the eastern and western parts of Pune. Its primary benefit will be for the thousands of professionals commuting to the Hinjawadi IT Park, a major employment hub. The route encompasses key stops including Wagholi, Diamond Water Park, Lohegaon, Dhanori Gaon, Vishrantwadi, Dighi, Bhosari, Shivraj Chowk, Mankar Chowk, Infosys Phase 1 & 2, and Hinjawadi Mann Phase 3. This comprehensive coverage ensures that a wide array of residential and commercial areas are now efficiently linked, reducing travel times and easing traffic congestion on arterial roads.

The introduction of this electric bus service is a testament to the city’s commitment to fostering gender-neutral and equitable access to public transportation. By providing a comfortable and reliable commute, PMPML is empowering a diverse workforce, including a significant number of women professionals in the IT sector, to access their workplaces efficiently and safely. This focus on improving public transport infrastructure is crucial for reducing dependence on private vehicles, thereby alleviating urban congestion and contributing to a more sustainable and livable city.

The PMPML’s initiative to expand its electric bus fleet and introduce new, strategically important routes like Wagholi to Hinjawadi Phase 3, signifies a forward-thinking approach to urban planning. This move not only addresses immediate commuter needs but also lays the groundwork for a more robust, environmentally conscious, and inclusive public transport ecosystem. By embracing clean energy solutions and enhancing connectivity, Pune is steadily advancing towards its goal of becoming a model for sustainable urban development in India.
