The Ministry of Railways has given its final nod for the detailed survey of a proposed 380-kilometre new railway line connecting Neemuch, Banswara, Dahod, and Nandurbar. This significant infrastructure development is poised to unlock the economic and social potential of tribal-dominated areas across Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. The project underscores a strategic commitment to fostering inclusive growth, enhancing connectivity, and promoting sustainable development in previously underserved regions.
This ambitious railway corridor is designed to create a vital new route for trains travelling between Delhi and Mumbai, offering the shortest link through the Tapti section via Dahod. By integrating Banswara, a district rich in mineral resources but currently unconnected to the Indian Railways network, the line is anticipated to unlock substantial freight opportunities. The efficient transportation of minerals such as manganese ore, dolomite, limestone, gold, copper, and quartzite from Neemuch–Banswara–Dahod will significantly reduce logistics costs and carbon emissions associated with road transport, aligning with eco-friendly development goals.
The proposed route, complementing the ongoing Dungarpur–Banswara–Ratlam project, will pass through hilly and tribal regions, providing a direct link between the Tapti rail section and the high-density Mumbai–New Delhi main corridor at Dahod.
