Greater Noida Approves Rs 65 crore Road Linking Faridabad , Reduce Travel Time To 30 Mins

Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned a ₹65.5 crore road project to directly connect Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh with Faridabad in Haryana. The project, which includes the construction of a 1.7-kilometre new road and expansion of over 3 kilometres of existing stretches, is expected to drastically reduce travel time between the two cities to just 30 minutes  a sharp drop from the current two-hour journey.

This strategic road link is part of a broader regional infrastructure upgrade focused on decongesting high-traffic routes like the Kalindi Kunj flyover and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. Once complete, the project will not only benefit thousands of daily commuters but also strengthen economic and logistical ties between the two rapidly urbanising nodes of the National Capital Region (NCR).Approved during a high-level meeting chaired by senior state officials, the project will connect Atta Gujran village in Greater Noida to Jasana and Manjhawali in Faridabad, seamlessly integrating with the 630-metre-long Manjhawali Bridge over the Yamuna River. This bridge, although inaugurated in late 2022, remained underutilised due to the lack of an approach road from the Uttar Pradesh side.

According to infrastructure experts, the delay in project execution until now stemmed largely from challenges in land acquisition and delays in funding approvals. With the financial green light now in place and land acquisition processes underway, the project is moving closer to tendering and subsequent construction. The proposed four-lane corridor aligns with the state’s sustainable urban mobility goals, offering a lower-emission alternative for commuters by minimising detours and congestion-related delays. Improved road infrastructure is also expected to encourage the shift to greener transport options and support integrated public mobility plans in future.

Officials involved in the project highlight that the construction will follow eco-conscious protocols, including optimised road alignments and use of sustainable materials. Additionally, the corridor could play a vital role in improving emergency response connectivity between the two cities, enhancing both safety and resilience.Urban planners have noted that such cross-border connectivity projects are essential to the vision of creating inclusive and efficient cities. By easing commutes and opening new economic corridors, the Greater Noida–Faridabad route is likely to stimulate local employment, real estate growth, and small-scale industry expansion on both sides of the Yamuna. While the project has gained long-awaited momentum, residents and experts alike are watching closely for timely execution and equitable development benefits. The success of the project will not just be measured by reduced travel time, but also by how effectively it supports a more sustainable and integrated urban future for the NCR.
