Lucknow launches Rs 31 crore Amausi industrial area infrastructure revamp

Lucknow’s industrial landscape is set for a major transformation as the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has rolled out a Rs 31 crore infrastructure modernisation project at the Amausi Industrial Area. The initiative is designed to improve business efficiency, enhance sustainability, and provide modern amenities for workers and visitors.

Officials confirmed that the project prioritises building durable roads, advanced drainage systems, and modern industrial entrances while also focusing on inclusive facilities such as service centres for workers, vending zones, cafeterias, and dormitories. The vision, according to development authorities, is to align Lucknow’s industrial growth with global standards of sustainability and workplace equity.A significant part of the investment, estimated at Rs 12 crore, has been allocated for road networks, truck lay-by spaces, and drainage works, aiming to resolve long-standing issues of accessibility and waterlogging in the industrial hub. In addition, Rs 6 crore has been earmarked for road construction using Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) technology, which is considered more sustainable as it reuses existing materials and reduces carbon emissions.

Authorities also outlined provisions for worker-centric amenities. Plans include dedicated Shramik Seva Kendras, public sanitation facilities, truck halts, vending zones, and dormitories. These measures reflect a growing shift in urban and industrial planning towards inclusive development, ensuring that infrastructure projects address both productivity and human dignityThe project also integrates environmental priorities. Nearly Rs 1.5 crore is reserved for landscaping and green development, while an additional Rs 3.4 crore will be directed towards setting up an integrated command centre, police post, and electric vehicle charging stations marking a push towards sustainable mobility in Lucknow’s industrial ecosystem.Experts in urban infrastructure note that UPSIDA’s initiative is more than just a facelift for the Amausi Industrial Area; it represents a shift towards creating business zones that are both economically competitive and environmentally conscious. Investments in drainage and solid waste management, backed by an annual maintenance contract worth Rs 1.26 crore, are expected to reduce recurring civic issues and enhance the long-term resilience of the industrial hub.

For businesses, the new infrastructure promises smoother logistics, better connectivity, and reduced operational delays. For workers, the addition of modern facilities signals an improvement in working conditions and urban liveability. And for the city, it sets a precedent for integrating sustainability and inclusivity into industrial planning. As Lucknow expands as a manufacturing and trade hub, the transformation of Amausi Industrial Area into a model of sustainable industrial infrastructure may serve as a blueprint for other regions in Uttar Pradesh, reinforcing the state’s ambition of fostering future-ready, climate-resilient, and equitable urban growth.
