This innovative collaboration between the city’s transport department and WhatsApp heralds a new era of convenience and efficiency for commuters utilising DTC and cluster buses within the national capital. This strategic initiative mirrors the successful model implemented by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), allowing passengers to seamlessly purchase tickets directly through a dedicated WhatsApp chatbot. Notably, this marks DTC as the inaugural state-run bus network in India to embrace such a solution, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing the travel experience through technological innovation.

Under this user-friendly system, passengers can effortlessly book DTC bus tickets within the familiar interface of WhatsApp, significantly simplifying the ticketing process. Moreover, with a cap of six tickets per booking, this initiative ensures fairness and accessibility for all commuters. With approximately 35 lakh individuals relying on DTC and cluster buses daily, this initiative is poised to alleviate the burdens associated with traditional ticket purchasing methods. By eliminating the need to procure tickets from conductors, this streamlined approach not only enhances passenger convenience but also reduces operational strain on conductors, thereby optimising overall efficiency. As the transportation landscape evolves towards digitalisation and consumer-centric solutions, DTC’s integration of advanced ticket booking via WhatsApp sets a precedent for future advancements in public transit services across the nation. This transformative initiative underscores DTC’s unwavering commitment to providing an unparalleled commuter experience, firmly positioning it at the forefront of innovation in the transportation sector.
