Pune’s Agriculture College Campus Set to Open Alternate Road Post-April 29

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is on the brink of unveiling a crucial infrastructure project aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in the city.

The completion of an alternate road on the Agriculture College campus, initially scheduled for March, has faced delays but is now nearing fruition. This strategic initiative seeks to mitigate the gridlock on Ganesh Khind Road, offering commuters a smoother travel experience. PMRDA officials had initially set a deadline to open the alternate road by the end of March, aiming to address the persistent traffic issues plaguing the area. However, unforeseen circumstances led to delays in the project’s completion. Now, with the project nearly finalized, the road is poised to open for public use shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to SP College on April 29. The decision to postpone the opening of the alternate road aligns with logistical considerations surrounding PM Modi’s visit, as he will be staying at Raj Bhavan in close proximity to Pune University. This strategic move aims to minimize disruptions during the Prime Minister’s visit while ensuring optimal traffic management in the vicinity.

According to PMRDA officials, the impending opening of the alternate road will be accompanied by a notification detailing the diversion plan for Ganesh Khind Road. Commuters traveling from Shivajinagar to Aundh or Hinjewadi will be directed to utilize the path from Agriculture College’s Wakdewadi gate to the Range Hill metro depot. This route, situated alongside the Pune Metro line, provides a direct link to the Range Hills’ underpass, facilitating smoother traffic flow towards Range Hills, Bopodi, and Khadki. Despite the temporary delay, PMRDA remains steadfast in its commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure and addressing urban mobility challenges in Pune. The forthcoming launch of the alternate road underscores PMRDA’s proactive approach to urban planning and underscores its dedication to fostering sustainable development in the region.
