Monsoon Alert Hyderabad Prepares for Heavy Rainfall, GHMC Issues Warning

As Hyderabad braces itself for an impending deluge, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has issued a stern warning to residents, urging heightened vigilance in anticipation of heavy rainfall expected to inundate the city on Sunday evening and night.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has forecasted persistent light to moderate rains across Hyderabad and Telangana over the next four days. A yellow alert, indicative of significant weather conditions, has been sounded for Monday across various districts including Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, and others. The forecast suggests thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds ranging from 30-40 kmph in isolated areas.

Prior to the rainfall, Hyderabad experienced sweltering temperatures, with Shaikpet recording a high of 40.8 degrees Celsius, closely followed by Khairatabad, Saroornagar, and Serilingampally at 40.7 degrees Celsius. In Telangana, Kamareddy received the highest rainfall at 40 mm, offering a respite from scorching temperatures ranging from 40 to 43 degrees Celsius witnessed across several districts. The impending rainfall is expected to alleviate the prevailing heatwave conditions in Telangana, with relief anticipated over the next ten days. GHMC has advised residents to remain abreast of weather advisories and undertake necessary precautions to ensure safety amidst the anticipated inclement weather conditions.
