The ambitious project, initiated two years ago, is DDA’s first major sports infrastructure venture under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The development marks a crucial step forward in enhancing Delhi’s sports facilities, with the completion target set for September 2027.

The project will house an international cricket-cum-football stadium with a seating capacity of 30,000, making it a future hub for international sports events. Alongside this, the complex will feature a multisport indoor arena accommodating 2,000 spectators, as well as facilities for tennis, swimming, badminton, squash, and other sports. A clubhouse with at least 3,000 memberships will also be part of the development, offering amenities to members and non-members alike. According to DDA officials, non-members will have access to at least 25% of the facilities on a pay-and-play basis, ensuring inclusivity for the general public.

The 50.4-acre site will not just be a sports destination but will also include 3.5 lakh square feet of commercial space, encompassing retail, hospitality, food, and cultural outlets. These facilities will be leased for a 99-year period, ensuring long-term sustainability and generating revenue for the complex’s maintenance and future developments. The total estimated cost for the sports complex is around Rs 350 crore, and Omaxe, a prominent real estate developer, will be responsible for the design, finance, and operation of the project over a 30-year concession period. This integration of commercial and sports infrastructure is expected to boost both local and international tourism while providing the residents of Delhi with world-class sports facilities.

The capital city, with a population exceeding 3.3 crore, has long awaited an international standard cricket stadium. The new sports hub in Dwarka will not only meet this demand but also serve as a venue for international football and other major sports events. The addition of this complex complements DDA’s continued focus on developing sports infrastructure in Delhi. Currently, DDA manages 17 sports complexes, three mini-sports complexes, two public golf courses, 17 swimming pools, and 40 multigyms, serving over 2 lakh individuals monthly. DDA is also advancing work on its third golf course in Dwarka Sector 24, set to be India’s longest golf course, with an 18-hole layout spanning 7,377 yards. This course is expected to open fully to the public by the end of October, further enhancing the city’s sporting amenities.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is set to begin construction on a world-class sports complex in Dwarka Sector 19B by December this year.
