The agreement, signed on December 23, 2024, outlines the creation of green hydrogen infrastructure in the state, with a special focus on Bhubaneswar.

This collaboration between NTPC, GRIDCO, and CRUT is set to establish a green hydrogen fueling station in Bhubaneswar and introduce hydrogen-powered buses for both short and long-haul routes. The initiative aims to reduce Odisha’s dependency on fossil fuels and supports the state’s broader goals of energy security and decarbonization. By phasing out conventional fossil fuel-powered buses, the project will pave the way for cleaner, sustainable transportation options in the state. The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has also pledged partial funding for the Bhubaneswar project, which will not only support the green hydrogen transition but also promote cleaner air and reduced carbon emissions. This move is in line with NTPC’s ongoing efforts to push the boundaries of renewable energy technologies and sustainable mobility across India.

NTPC’s green hydrogen strategy has already seen success in other regions. The company has been operating a green hydrogen blending project in Surat for two years, along with mobility projects in places like Leh, Greater Noida, and Kandla. The success of these projects underscores NTPC’s commitment to pioneering hydrogen technologies in the transportation sector. Officials from NTPC, including Chairman and Managing Director, have expressed strong optimism about the future of green hydrogen. They highlight that projects like these are crucial for India’s energy transition and the country’s broader environmental goals. NTPC aims to expand its renewable energy capacity to 60 GW by 2032, with hydrogen infrastructure playing a key role in this ambitious plan.

In addition to the Bhubaneswar initiative, NTPC is developing a green hydrogen hub in Visakhapatnam. This hub is expected to further strengthen the company’s green energy portfolio and contribute to India’s decarbonization targets. The growing focus on green hydrogen in the mobility sector signals a shift toward more sustainable urban transportation. NTPC’s innovative approach in Odisha is expected to not only transform the energy landscape but also create a model for other states to follow, driving India’s clean energy revolution.

NTPC Leads Green Hydrogen Revolution in Odisha with New Mobility Initiatives State-run NTPC has taken a significant step toward green energy development in Odisha by

[5146,149,146,147,148
2499,234,4925,2459,1964,4928,4929,4931,4263,1280
post-28774","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-h20","category-infrastructure","category-latest","category-news","category-urban-news","tag-bhubaneswar","tag-clean-mobility","tag-crut","tag-decarbonization","tag-green-hydrogen","tag-gridco","tag-hydrogen-buses","tag-ntpc","tag-odisha","tag-renewable-energy
["GET
