These sectors, highly dependent on fossil fuels, include<br \/>\npetrochemicals, iron and steel, cement and pulp and paper.<\/p>\n<p>Companies operating within these four sectors are expected to be the first<br \/>\nparticipants in India&amp;#39;s carbon trading market, scheduled to launch in April 2025.<br \/>\nThis initiative will empower companies to buy and sell carbon credits, providing a<br \/>\nflexible mechanism to meet their emissions reduction goals.<\/p>\n<p>Under this system, companies that surpass their emissions reduction targets will<br \/>\nearn carbon credits, which can then be sold to firms that fall short of their own<br \/>\ngoals.
