NHIDCL Executive Director M.S. Deval provided a detailed update on the progress and highlighted operational challenges hampering execution. The Governor instructed all stakeholders to coordinate effectively and implement necessary measures to fast-track delivery. \u201cTimely completion of road infrastructure is vital for maintaining supply chains and access to essential services,\u201d an official said after the meeting. Manipur relies heavily on two key routes \u2014 NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam) and NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur) \u2014 which serve as lifelines for the transport of food, fuel, medicines, and construction materials.<\/h4>\n<h4>Given the state&#8217;s terrain and strategic importance, the government has prioritised connectivity through these arterial highways.Deputy Commissioners from seven hill districts \u2014 Ukhrul, Noney, Tamenglong, Senapati, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, and Pherzwal \u2014 also joined via video conferencing. Officials discussed land acquisition, security, and logistical concerns affecting progress. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways last year sanctioned 50 highway projects covering 1,026 km, with 44 focused on the state\u2019s hilly districts. So far, eight projects spanning 125 km have been completed.
