The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has received the ‘Indian Green
\nBuilding Council (IGBC) Platinum Certification’ establishing itself as one of
\nIndia’ highest-rated green campuses.<\/p>\n
The IGBC Green Campus certification, developed by the Confederation of
\nIndian Industry (CII), is a certification programme designed to promote
\nsustainable and environment-friendly practices within educational institutions
\nand corporate campuses across India.<\/p>\n
The institute has taken a significant step towards enhancing its sustainability
\nefforts by establishing a Solid Waste Incinerator facility on its campus. This
\nfacility boasts the capacity to process up to two tons of mixed waste daily,
\nsignificantly reducing the volume of waste destined for landfills.<\/p>\n
These endeavours not only lead to cost savings but also contribute to the
\nconservation of vital resources. Furthermore, they set an inspiring example for
\nother educational institutions and corporate campuses to follow suit in their
