The Western Railway zone reported the suspension of five key train services operating on the Bhuj, Rajkot, and Gandhidham routes. These include the Ahmedabad–Bhuj Namo Bharat Rapid Rail (Train No. 94801) scheduled for May 9 and its return service, Bhuj–Ahmedabad Namo Bharat Rapid Rail (Train No. 94802) on May 10. Additionally, the Jodhpur–Gandhidham Superfast Express (Train No. 22483) on May 9 and its return service, Gandhidham–Jodhpur Superfast Express (Train No. 22484) on May 10, have been cancelled. The Bhuj–Rajkot–Bhuj Special Train (Train No. 09446/09445) scheduled for May 10 has also been suspended.

In Rajasthan, the North Western Railway has taken similar precautionary steps. All passenger trains operating between Barmer, Jodhpur, and Munabao were suspended on May 9. This includes the Bhagat Ki Kothi–Barmer and Barmer–Bhagat Ki Kothi services, as well as both legs of the Munabao–Barmer–Munabao route. These cancellations coincide with a series of security measures implemented by state authorities. In Gujarat, the government has imposed a ban on flying drones and bursting firecrackers at any public or private events across the state until May 15. A similar directive has been issued in Rajasthan, where authorities have enforced nightly blackouts from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. in border districts such as Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Sriganganagar.

The heightened alert follows recent cross-border incidents, including drone attacks and ceasefire violations. In Jammu and Kashmir, over 50 drones sent from across the border were reportedly shot down by Indian forces between May 8 and 9. In response, Indian Railways has introduced special train services from Jammu and Udhampur to Delhi to facilitate the safe movement of passengers from the conflict zone The Ministry of Civil Aviation has also extended the closure of 24 airports near India’s western borders until May 15, affecting air travel in regions including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, and the Delhi NCR area.

Authorities have urged the public to adhere to the imposed restrictions and remain vigilant. Residents in affected areas are advised to stay indoors during blackout hours and avoid unnecessary travel. The government has emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining safety and order during this period of heightened tension. As the situation continues to evolve, Indian Railways and state governments are closely monitoring developments and stand ready to implement additional measures as necessary to ensure the safety and security of citizens.

Also Read : India Launches Special Trains Amid Rising Tensions

5 Trains Cancelled Including Superfast Express Amid Rising Border Tensions

Indian Railways has announced the cancellation of several train services in the western states of Gujarat and Rajasthan.
