The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority will step into MCG\u2019s
\nshoes for cleaning internal sewer lines in Sector 15 part-2 with super sucker
\nmachines as MCG repeatedly failed to provide a resolution to the perennial
\nproblem of overflowing sewage. GMDA was given the charge of service roads
\nalong master roads, which earlier was under MCG jurisdiction.<\/p>\n
Although this will be a one-time cleanliness work that GMDA will undertake at
\nan estimated cost of INR 2.14 crore, the operation and maintenance will
\ncontinue to remain with the civic body. The GMDA is responsible for all major
\nservices, including roads, stormwater drains, sewer lines, CCTV cameras, greenbelts, while the MCG has mandate over all the internal services in colonies and sectors such as roads, sewers, drains, garbage, streetlights among others.<\/p>\n
The desilting of internal sewer lines in Sector 15 part-2 will be carried out by
\nthe metropolitan authority. Under this, a 13km network on internal sewer lines
\nconsisting of pipes, varying in sizes between 200 mm and 600 mm, will be
\ncleaned within six months after the work is allotted.<\/p>\n
Sector 15 is one of the posh localities in the city and home to several VIPs.
\nHowever, it has been facing the problem of sewage overflow for the last 6
\nyears. Overflowing of sewer lines has become a perennial problem for the last
\n5-6 years, with hardly any proper cleanliness being done by the MCG. Almost
\nevery other day, the sewer line in the area gets choked and sewage overflows
