Inaugurated earlier this month, the BKC to Worli leg spans nearly 10 kilometres underground, cutting through key commercial zones such as Dharavi, Dadar, and Prabhadevi. This marks a crucial step in the full rollout of the Aqua Line, Mumbai’s first fully underground metro corridor, designed to ease road congestion and support the city’s transition to low-emission transit systems.

Commuters travelling this route now benefit from modern conveniences such as free WiFi at all metro stations along the corridor. The service not only enhances digital connectivity but also ensures the smooth functioning of contactless ticketing and payments—critical components of a smart transport infrastructure. Trains are currently operating every six minutes and twenty seconds, with services beginning at 6:30 am and concluding at 10:30 pm. Eight trains have been deployed to manage peak hour volumes, ensuring reduced waiting times and consistent service levels for daily commuters, especially office-goers travelling between central and western parts of the city.

With ticket prices kept affordable—Rs 60 for a trip from Aarey to Worli—the metro line ensures that access to efficient public transport remains equitable and inclusive. Fare structures have been designed to accommodate varying travel distances while remaining accessible to a broad demographic. Mumbai Metro Line 3 is being developed in three phases. The first phase, linking Aarey Colony to BKC, began service in late 2024, while the third and final stretch, from Worli to Cuffe Parade via South Mumbai’s core commercial zones, is expected to be completed by July 2025. Trial runs are already underway on this section, with operational readiness progressing swiftly.

The new BKC-Worli connectivity offers much more than convenience—it is an important stride towards sustainable urban planning. As the city grapples with worsening traffic, rising emissions, and inefficient road-based public transport, infrastructure like Metro Line 3 embodies the shift toward green, gender-inclusive, and time-efficient mobility solutions. Residents from northern suburbs like Dahisar and Borivli can now use a combination of Mumbai’s metro network—via Metro-7, Metro-2A, and Metro-1—to access Metro-3 and reach Worli swiftly, creating a cohesive cross-city rapid transit ecosystem.

As this infrastructure matures, Mumbai edges closer to its vision of a cleaner, faster, and more connected metropolis. The Metro-3 corridor not only connects neighbourhoods—it connects aspirations, ensuring that the city’s infrastructure keeps pace with the ambitions of its people. The operationalisation of Phase 2 also sends a larger message—that smart, inclusive, and sustainable transport is no longer a vision but a lived reality in Mumbai. All eyes are now on the final phase, which will cement Metro-3’s role as a backbone of Mumbai’s next-generation public transport.

Also Read :Metro Line 4 Trials Begin in Mumbai

Metro 3 Reduces BKC to Worli Travel Time to 15 minutes

Mumbai’s mobility landscape witnessed a transformative moment with the launch of Phase 2 of Mumbai Metro Line 3, bridging Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and Worli in

[146,147,148
70129,12539,2121,69289,72338,5635,16834,1400
post-48493","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-latest","category-news","category-urban-news","tag-bkc-worli-metro","tag-eco-friendly-commute","tag-metro-connectivity","tag-metro-fare-mumbai","tag-metro-wifi-mumbai","tag-mumbai-metro-3","tag-mumbai-metro-news","tag-urban-transport
["GET
