Kochi Metro\u2019s second phase, from JLN Stadium to Infopark-Kakkanad, will be
\nknown as \u2018Pink Line\u2019 and involve only digital tickets. Work on the 11.3-km-long
\nelevated line, with a total of 11 stations, is likely to begin by the end of this year.
\nThe commissioning of the Pink Line is expected by December 2025. The Pink
\nLine will have only digital tickets. The move is to promote paperless ticketing.
\nThe name Pink Line will emphasise the safety of women passengers working at
\nInfopark who often have to walk several kilometres or rely on cabs, especially
\nduring night time.<\/p>\n
Unlike Phase-1, precast method will be adopted in the construction of stations to
\nspeed up the civil construction work in the second phase. Approximately, six
\nhectares of precast yard have been identified at HMT Kalamasery.<\/p>\n
The stations on the stretch are: JLN Stadium (new station box); Palarivattom
\nJunction; Palarivattom Bypass; Chembumukku; Vazhakkala; Padamughal;
\nKakkanad Junction; Cochin Sez; Chittethukara; Kinfra (formerly Rajagiri);<\/p>\n
InfoPark -1\/Smart City-1; and InfoPark-2 \/ Smart City-2. Of the 11 stations, four
\nwill have direct entry to the platform from ground level, avoiding the concourse
\nfloor. This is to reduce the access time.<\/p>\n
Phase-2 will have two special spans — steel truss of more than 60m each (similar to
\nthe one constructed between Milma and Tripunithura in Phase-1).\u00a0In Phase-2, one
\nwill be at the Palarivattom bypass crossing, and the other at the existing Phase-1
