{"id":4992,"date":"2023-10-03T10:05:04","date_gmt":"2023-10-03T10:05:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/urbanacres.in\/?p=4992"},"modified":"2023-10-03T10:05:04","modified_gmt":"2023-10-03T10:05:04","slug":"rules-for-division-of-bbmp-ward-boundaries-framed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/livzzy.in\/?p=4992","title":{"rendered":"Rules for Division of BBMP Ward Boundaries Framed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two days after the State government reduced the number of Bengaluru\u2019s wards<br \/>\nfrom 243 to 225, the Urban Development Department (UDD) issued fresh<br \/>\nguidelines to demarcate ward boundaries for the Bruhat\u00a0Bengaluru Mahanagara<br \/>\nPalike (BBMP).<\/p>\n<p>The rules formed under the BBMP Act 2020 have mandated the delimitation<br \/>\ncommittee to conduct the exercise\u00a0based on the 2011 population survey. The<br \/>\nprevious delimitation was also done on the same basis. The UDD has\u00a0formed<br \/>\neight guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>The guidelines say that every ward boundary should be fixed under Assembly<br \/>\nconstituencies and wards should not be divided between two segments<br \/>\nrepresented by elected representatives. This means a ward is attached to one<br \/>\nAssembly segment and not more than that.<\/p>\n<p>During the delimitation process, the ward should be compact and the committee<br \/>\nmust consider\u00a0geographical features, means of communication, and public<br \/>\nconvenience during redistribution of wards.<\/p>\n<p>The committee must ensure the areas in the ward should not expand to other<br \/>\nwards. The areas falling in hilly areas, complex geographies, valleys and others<br \/>\nshould be demarcated prioritising public convenience.
