{"id":5067,"date":"2023-08-27T10:00:39","date_gmt":"2023-08-27T10:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/urbanacres.in\/?p=5067"},"modified":"2023-08-27T10:00:39","modified_gmt":"2023-08-27T10:00:39","slug":"chennai-want-new-body-to-stop-illegal-constructions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/livzzy.in\/?p=5067","title":{"rendered":"Chennai Want New Body to Stop Illegal Constructions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) and the Chennai Metropolitan<br \/>\nDevelopment Authority (CMDA) have sought the state government\u2019s approval<br \/>\nto constitute a high-level committee to monitor unauthorised constructions in<br \/>\nthe Chennai metropolitan area.<\/p>\n<p>This would provide powers to the commissioner to monitor even unauthorised<br \/>\nhigh-rise buildings. The Madras High Court has expressed displeasure that<br \/>\ndespite various directions, no effective measures were taken to address<br \/>\nunauthorised constructions.<\/p>\n<p>The court also brought to the notice of the corporation commissioner that there<br \/>\nare four major categories of unauthorised constructions &#8212; illegal and<br \/>\nunauthorised, without obtaining planning permission, buildings having floors<br \/>\nbeyond permission, permission obtained for residential, but using it for<br \/>\ncommercial purposes and deviated constructions.<\/p>\n<p>The unauthorised constructions should be monitored zone-wise or division-wise<br \/>\nusing the manpower of the corporation rather than in an unorganised way as is<br \/>\ndone by using limited manpower of CMDA.
