The newly-built Kilambakkam bus terminus has all the features, making it
\nbarrier-free for persons with disabilities. The terminus had several features
\nadhering to the accessibility norms as per the \u2018Harmonised Guidelines and
\nSpace Standards for Barrier-Free Built Environment for Persons with
\nDisabilities and Elderly Persons\u2019.<\/p>\n
Wheelchair accessibility, tactile flooring and designated accessible toilets
\nfollowing universal barrier-free design standards had been incorporated in the
\nfacility.<\/p>\n
While efforts had been made to make some parts of the bus terminus accessible,
\none should ensure that tactile flooring was in all the places and special facilities
\nfor persons with severe disabilities to park their vehicles close to the buses.
\nProvisions need to be made to set up digital displays and signage across the
\nterminus for persons who are hearing-impaired and speech-impaired. The
\ngovernment had been striving to improve basic amenities for persons with
