The Chennai Metro Rail has signed a contract with the Rail Vikas Nigam
\n(RVN) under its 116.1 km Phase-2I programme for construction of 12
\nunderground Metro stations and 4 underground Metro works other than the
\ndiaphragm wall from Kilpauk Metro to Taramani.<\/p>\n
Phase-2 project will involve construction of 128 stations and three rail corridors.
\nCorridor-3 will run from Madhavaram to Sipcot, covering a distance of 45.8
\nkm. Corridor-4 will span from Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass, covering a
\ndistance of 26.1 km. Lastly, Corridor-5 will connect Madhavaram to
\nSholinganallur, spanning a distance of 47 km.<\/p>\n
The anticipated opening of the 116.1km Phase-2 is between 2026 and 2028. The
\nestimated cost of the Chennai Metro Rail Phase-2 is INR 61,843 crore. These
\npackages are being funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency
