In a bid to expedite investments in public infrastructure, the Ahmedabad
\nMunicipal Corporation (AMC) is set to invite private sector participation in
\nfunding its projects. The civic body, in coordination with the urban
\ndevelopment department of the state government, is finalising a city investment
\naction plan \u2013 a business model to meet the massive fund gaps for Ahmedabad\u2019s
\ngrowing infrastructure requirements.<\/p>\n
The city would require support from the private sector for effective urban
\nservices. The city needs to focus on policy making, planning and monitoring,
\nwhile the private sector may play a significant role in design, implementation,
\noperation and maintenance, and financing. Therefore, a city investment plan
\n(CIP) with short-term and long-term goals for future urban infrastructure
\ndevelopment aligned with state and national government schemes\/programmes
\nwill serve as a strategic tool.<\/p>\n
Sources in the urban development department said that a future-ready planning
\napproach by the city will attract investments, foster sustainable and inclusive
\ngrowth, and support well-planned development.<\/p>\n
A well-structured city investment plan, accompanied by key performance
\nindicators, will provide transparency in resource allocation and project
\nimplementation. This, in turn, will establish accountability mechanisms and
\nhelp citizens and stakeholders monitor the progress of the projects and thereby
