Rural education and youth empowerment in Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor laid the foundation stone for a 500-seat auditorium and initiated the upgradation of the Government Higher Secondary School in Gurha Slathia, Samba. These projects, fully funded through charitable contributions, are being hailed as a landmark example of community-led development in one of the Union Territory\u2019s strategically vital border districts.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The initiative follows a commitment made during the Lieutenant Governor\u2019s visit to the area in February 2025, when local youth and community representatives raised a collective demand for enhanced educational and recreational infrastructure. With formal government budget allocations posing delays, the leadership turned to trusted community networks and philanthropic support to mobilise resources. Construction of the auditorium is expected to be completed within a year, and the school will be equipped with modern learning technologies to ensure students are future-ready.<\/h4>\n

The Lieutenant Governor emphasised that education must serve as the backbone of economic and social development in emerging regions like Samba. Drawing from international case studies, he noted that investment in education and skills has the potential to transform resource-constrained regions into economic powerhouses within a generation. With better facilities now in place, the region is expected to experience improvements in literacy, digital access, and vocational preparedness.<\/h4>\n

He also praised the people of Samba, the district administration, and local leaders for their unified efforts in delivering this grassroots transformation.
