The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast continued rainfall over Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, where thunderstorms and gusty winds of 30\u201340 kmph are expected. Skies will remain overcast, and temperatures are likely to hover between 29\u00b0C and 37\u00b0C. Humidity is pegged at 65%, adding to discomfort levels. The rains are part of a broader monsoon surge now gaining strength across southern India.<\/h4>\n

The IMD attributes the rainfall to a cyclonic circulation over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and South Andaman Sea. This weather system is influencing moisture movement across Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states. Besides Chennai, rainfall is expected in Odisha, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, and West Bengal. The widespread nature of the rainfall could affect mobility, infrastructure, and daily routines in multiple states.<\/h4>\n

Heavy rainfall has been predicted in districts like Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Tenkasi, Madurai, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi, and Ramanathapuram. The Western Ghats, in particular, are likely to experience intense showers through the weekend. Urban areas like Chengalpattu, Thanjavur, and Tiruppur are also on alert. Residents are urged to monitor local advisories, especially in flood-prone and low-lying regions vulnerable to waterlogging.<\/h4>\n

Despite the rainfall, Chennai\u2019s Air Quality Index (AQI) stands at 70, categorised as \u2018moderate\u2019. While rain usually helps cleanse the air, persistent humidity and low wind speeds may slow dispersion. Authorities continue to monitor pollution levels, especially as weather fluctuations can exacerbate existing environmental and health issues.<\/h4>\n
