From electric and lithium-ion forklifts to automated, telematics-enabled racking platforms, the company is redefining the very architecture of warehouse ecosystems. A key upcoming launch is IoT-enabled forklifts, slated for rollout in July 2025, which will introduce real-time fleet monitoring and performance analytics into factory logistics. GEG is already present in over 82% of India\u2019s electric forklift deployment, underscoring its leadership in clean mobility within industrial environments. Its flagship facility in Chennai operates on piped natural gas, uses RoHS-compliant steel and powder coatings, and has reduced specific energy consumption by over 60%. It\u2019s also a signatory to EP100 and operates with 3x water positivity. These green benchmarks make it one of the country\u2019s most sustainable logistics hubs.<\/span><\/h4>\n

In Mumbai\u2019s Vikhroli, GEG\u2019s Material Handling division has mirrored similar progress with increased renewable energy adoption and water conservation. The introduction of India\u2019s first lithium-ion forklift\u2014built with an indigenously developed Battery Management System (BMS)\u2014positions the company as a global benchmark in green MHE (material handling equipment). Officials at GEG, explained, \u201cThe key to sustainable logistics starts from the inside\u2014right inside warehouses. Every second saved, every watt conserved, scales exponentially across the supply chain.\u201d<\/span><\/h4>\n

The company\u2019s solutions are now powering operations across e-commerce, FMCG, cold chains, automotive, retail, and quick commerce\u2014sectors that demand fast, cost-effective, and carbon-conscious logistics infrastructure. What sets GEG apart is its commitment to holistic transformation. It\u2019s not just about machines but about building a resilient logistics ecosystem\u2014one that is agile, emissions-lite, and digitally integrated. This aligns seamlessly with India\u2019s broader vision of achieving a greener, globally competitive economy. In numbers, Maharashtra\u2019s MSMEs alone emit over 58 million tonnes of CO\u2082 annually. GEG\u2019s cluster-based approach, supporting green logistics via technology and policy backing, is expected to reduce over 4 million tonnes of carbon emissions by 2031. That\u2019s equivalent to removing nearly 9 lakh cars off roads\u2014or eliminating 2 million tonnes of coal emissions.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Godrej\u2019s push also arrives at a critical time when global trade is increasingly climate-conscious. The EU\u2019s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is already shaking up exporters in energy-intensive sectors. GEG\u2019s support for carbon accounting, emissions monitoring, and clean energy adoption gives India\u2019s MSMEs the tools they need to stay export-competitive in a green future.\u00a0 Experts stressed, \u201cGEG\u2019s success shows that decarbonisation and digitisation aren\u2019t exclusive\u2014they\u2019re mutually reinforcing. What we need now is scale, policy support, and sustained investment.\u201d<\/span><\/h4>\n
