But when Piyush Tewari\u2019s 16-year-old cousin died in a hit-and-run \u2014 not from the injury, but from the apathy of bystanders and the absence of emergency aid \u2014 something inside him changed forever.<\/p>\n

That day, a new kind of warrior was born.
\nOne who didn\u2019t wear a cape or carry a placard \u2014 but carried designs, data, and determination.<\/p>\n

The Foundation of Life: SaveLIFE<\/h3>\n

In 2008, Tewari left a lucrative job in private equity to start the SaveLIFE Foundation \u2014 an organization that would take on India\u2019s most neglected epidemic: road accidents.<\/p>\n

India accounts for 11% of global road crash deaths, with over 1.5 lakh people dying annually. Most of these deaths are not due to impact, but delayed response, fear of legal entanglements, and broken road design.<\/p>\n

Tewari\u2019s answer wasn\u2019t just moral outrage. It was systemic innovation.<\/p>\n

The Good Samaritan Law: A Silent Revolution<\/h3>\n

One of Tewari\u2019s most groundbreaking victories came in 2016, when after years of legal advocacy, the Supreme Court of India passed the Good Samaritan Law \u2014 protecting bystanders who help accident victims from harassment by police or hospitals.<\/p>\n

For a country where people watched victims bleed to death out of fear, this law was nothing short of cultural surgery.<\/p>\n

Suddenly, saving a life became a civic duty \u2014 not a legal risk.<\/p>\n

Engineering Safer Roads<\/h3>\n

But Tewari didn\u2019t stop at laws.
