In a pioneering move towards sustainable transportation, Sangeet Travels has launched India’s first solar-powered air-conditioned local bus service in Kannur, Kerala.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The initiative aims to provide passengers with a comfortable and eco-friendly travel experience, particularly amidst the sweltering heat prevalent in the region. Operating along the Kannur-Kandyparam route, the solar-powered bus offers commuters five daily trips between Kannur town and the District Hospital. Spearheaded by Sangeet Travels, this innovative venture marks a significant milestone in the evolution of public transportation in India.<\/p>\n

The concept of integrating solar-powered air conditioning into local buses had long been brewing in the mind of Sangeet Travels’ management. As a dealer for a Make In India start-up specialising in air conditioning technology leveraging BLDC (Brushless DC) technology to reduce energy consumption by 70%, the decision to implement this solution was a natural progression for the company. Securing special permission from the Kannur Regional Transport Office (RTO), Sangeet Travels proceeded with modifications to facilitate the installation of solar-powered air conditioning equipment in the bus. By harnessing solar energy, the bus eliminates the need for engine connectivity, thereby minimising fuel usage and environmental pollution.<\/p>\n

Despite encountering initial challenges inherent in pioneering technology adoption, Sangeet Travels remained steadfast in refining the solar-powered air conditioning system, achieving a commendable 90% completion rate. The overwhelmingly positive response from passengers underscores the significance of this eco-friendly initiative, particularly amidst the prevailing hot weather conditions in Kerala. The solar system and air conditioning setup incurred an initial investment of Rs. 5 lakh, reflecting Sangeet Travels’ commitment to sustainable innovation in the transportation sector.
